Yes, there is a Grandma Ruby, and we've been using her homemade recipe as the inspiration to make our own gourmet and signature cheesecake fudge since 1992. Rocky Top Story
In 1995 Rocky Top Country Store opened its doors in Wears Valley, Tennessee in the heart of the Smoky Mountains. Robert & Ida Glenn with their daughter Marni founded Rocky Top Country Store and started a tradition of making fresh, homemade fudge that continues today. Second generation family, sisters Marni & Kari now run Rocky Top Country Store (under the watchful eyes of their parents!) establishing Grandma Ruby’s Sweet Shoppe for online sales.

A Truly Sweet Sisterhood
Sisters Kari Carpenter and Marni Glenn named the online business after their Grandma Ruby, working diligently to make pound after pound of homemade fudge concoctions. The business is a tribute to Grandma Ruby’s magical ways in the kitchen and her unceasing ability to have a positive impact on everyone she met. These lasting memories are the culinary inspiration that fuels their dedication to Grandma Ruby’s Sweet Shoppe.
Our Story
The Legacy of Grandma Ruby
In 1991 Kari and Marni’s beloved Grandma Ruby (whom they affectionately called “Mamo”) was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gerhig’s disease), which eventually took her life. Kari and Marni share the following thoughts on this period in their lives:
“We were fortunate enough to be there in her final moments and our time together throughout the years created a lasting impression and special bond between us. Mamo's strong faith in God was also passed to her children and grandchildren. Our faith and trust in God is what got us where we are and where He wants us to be. In the meantime, we await the day we will be reunited with Mamo.”
Grandma Ruby’s passion for life and courageous example inspired her granddaughters to follow their dreams, and her legacy continues in other ways as well.
